Were Us The Best Place To Go To Thailand For A Vaction In October.?
I am actually planning to go to Bangkok, Thailand in October. But I dont know exactly the best place to go, and if it is safe to go alone. I am a lady. Would like to go to the best and safe beach, that was not effected with the Tsunami, and ofcourse best place for shopping. Any views and opinion are welcome.

You shouldn’t have any more problems than you would have in your capital city back home. Take normal precautions, use the security box at your hotel for valuables and extra cash and don’t leave that key out in plain site. If things come up missing from your hotel room it is more likely to be a fellow tourist.
For a hotel in Bangkok choose one near the Skytrain so you can use that overhead transportation to get around town real easy. Meter taxi cabs (when you pay the meter charge only) will be cheaper than tuk-tuks. There are some scams involved with tuk-tuks too. Have small bills and change for paying for cheap items like taxi drivers or street vendors. Even a 500 baht note may be too big to cash. When you need a taxi in Bangkok wave one of the MOVING taxi cabs over, parked taxi cabs (outside hotels) most often want to bargain the ride and you pay more than insisting on meter only!
Phuket is a nice place to visit, very organized, etc. No problems with Tsunami damage in the areas you will be at. Keep in mind that you do not have to be at a beach to get a suntan, Thailand is warm all over – even in Bangkok you can get a sunburn.
Since you are in Thailand why not see some of the attractions (other than beaches only) that make Thailand unique? Check out Chiang Mai too! Women seem to like that city where you can visit hill tribes, see the Long Neck Women and visit the Golden Triangle area.
Change your money over to Thai baht after you get to Thailand and you will get a better rate. The bank money changers at the airport are okay and you can also use an ATM there too! Lots of bank money changers all over Bangkok and other large cities like Phuket and Chiang Mai. If you use an ATM make sure you notify your bank that you will be overseas or your debit or credit card may be declined because they suspect fraud.
Tours in Bangkok, Phuket and even Chaing Mai are easy to get – just find your nearest travel agency. Travel agents book tours for you, some hotels also book tour, their prices may be more than a travel agency. Choose a tour the day before and leave the following morning. You can sometimes sign up for an evening tour or evening dinner cruise on the same morning.

Have a nice trip.
Are you going alone??? Phuket is the best place to go. Unfortunetly, all of the coastal areas were affected. The great thing is, tourism is their greatest means of economical wealth so they fixed everything FAST! My husband & I went the following year after the Tsunami and it was beautiful! We went to several places 7 days on the River Kwai, Bangkok, Tiger Temple (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED) and Phuket. But…be careful if going alone. Have a GREAT Trip!
I would go to OTOP. Well you can go to OTOP all year round but sometimes they have sales. OTOP is like a huge mall. They have many stores that have handmade items, and many food stores. They have live Thai music and Thai dance. They also have a play area for kids. Good luck and I hope you have fun in Thailand!
