Ross Kemp; What Are His Qualifications For Reporting Folk As Harsh As Jamaican Crims. To ‘our Boys’ Fighting?
It only seems like yesterday when he was pulling funny faces and grunting in populist soap EastEnders. Now…he’s in one of the most dangerous places in the world (thanks to Sky One), Afghanistan.
Did watch him in some of the ‘gangster’ programmes and wondered what sort of hard-men these sweeties were, as some were showing their wee faces to the cameras - always thought that was a no-no ‘rule’.
Is it a case of grabbing an old soap-opera ‘nutter’ once his time is up, and jazzing him up for reporting on, say, British jails, or greedy English who were caught trying to carry drugs from Thailand - or elsewhere, and now waiting to die in one of their jails…with (as usual) the local MP from where they reside squealing to the press and the House of Commons about ‘cruel countries’…so he can still carry on with ‘hard boy’ image (with London accent…naturally) but report about wrong-doing in countries where us softies will never go?

I watched the programme last night and I thought he did an excellent job! No way would I put myself in the firing line. He must be hard to do that. It was no picnic. I think he did a great un biased report. Good on him I say
I really can’t fathom why this is bothering you so much.
He has proved himself to have real guts to sign up for a programme like this. It is very easy to sit at home in a nice comfy armchair & read the news but quite another to actually be there experiencing it.
I never rated him as an actor but he has proved to be an excellent human being by doing this. Not only has he shown his courage but also that he has a heart & actually cares about what happens to the troops over there.
We need more people like him, doing something, & less like you, complaining about him doing something.
Unless you are willing to go there yourself then you have no right to critisize him for doing so.
dont forget he did that SAS drama , that would make him hard wouldn’t it?
We are in afgan and i think he does a fanatastic job .
He has the hard man persona and is not intimidated by anyone
He is a well built man too and a lot of people like him as he is well informed and does not beat around the bush
At the end of the day he is being paid to do this and as someone else quite rightly mentioned could you imagine someone like ian beale doing it ?
Ross Kemp has all the qualities to present this type of programe and he does it well
FYI . Ross Kemp has had rudimentary Army training for his role in Ultimate Farce and also in this latest role On the Front Line.
Therefore this makes him a suitable presenter of the programme. Unless of course you are volunteering to go?
who cares he looks hot in the uniform. lol
The programme would be ridiculous if Ian Beale was fronting it, that’s why. Not quite sure why it bothers you so much though.
you are sooooooo right on this
Ross Kemp has already won awards for his ‘Gangs’ series and is fast proving to be our BEST factual reporter. He also happens, given the opportunity, to be a fine actor, unfortunately he seems to be typecast as a ‘hardcase’, which he surely isn’t. He and his crew were given weapons training and with an unzeroed rifle he did exceptionally well. He is able to integrate well with the lads, they would soon be getting shut of any liability - why do you have a problem? Unlike ‘embedded’ reporters, he is completely with the guys. He’s not acting the prima donna, I’d like to see you cross open ground under sniper fire - whilst ‘pretending’ to be a hard man.
BTW civilians are not awarded the Victoria Cross.
