What Are Some Advantages And Disadvantages Of Teaching English In China?
I plan to go to China next February to check out the possibily of teaching English there. I’ve chosen to visit Nanning because I have a Chinese internet friend there. I have 10 years experience teaching English to adult Thais at a well-known American school in Bangkok, Thailand. I can speak and read Thai. Also, now I’m learning basic conversational Chinese Mandarin with private tutors. If anyone has any suggestions or advice about preparing to teach in China and what to expect while working there, please email to me.

The experience of visiting such an amazing place and living in a place that most foreigners don’t get to experience are definitely advantages. You’ll get to teach children who will always come to class and want to learn everything. You’ll learn basic Mandarin faster than taking classes in America. You’ll experience real China and eat real Chinese food (which is delicious), plus you’ll see Chinese culture first hand.
The pay is not the best, depending on the program and school. If you’re going to teach to save for your retirement then it’s not a good idea. Being a foreigner and getting use to life in China can be tough, especially if you don’t know the language well, but you’ll eventually learn.
I’m a Chinese-American and I can’t wait to teach in China. It was be rewarding and interesting at the same time.
bad thing: china smells and the food is disgusting. chinese food in america is way better than the shady squid and eels and sh*t you get in china. …. gross!
I have heard the salary is real good, obvious the bad thing is moving away so far from your family to a total diferent culture.
should be better weather
