I’ll be traveling next week to Thailand with a small group of people. We will be going from Bangkok up north and might even visit Myanmar for an afternoon. I am concerned about disease and any other risks such as animal or human?
Any advice?

I am going to Thailand with Hans, Fritz and Otto. We have never been outside Germany and we wonder how it is in Thailand. I want to get a sun tan. Is it too hot for wearing dirndl and lederhosen? Can we get bratwurst in Thailand? I am not really into spicy food from far-away. Are there any German pubs in Thailand? Is it safe to kiss by the beach? Do people speak German in Thailand?

concerning the do’s and don’ts with prostitutes and bar girls especially. I heard the bar girls try to coax you into buying them drinks and stuff but is it true that they can drug you and have you robbed or try to sleep with you and they have std’s?

I’m traveling to Thailand on business; however, while I’m there I would love to see a Muay Thai fighting event. Has anyone been to one of these events and do they have them often? Should I purchase tickets in advance on the internet?

I am going to volunteering in thailand during june, but will be leaving two weeks earlier to travel. I should be traveling in the end of may first week of june and was wondering what are the best things to do during this time. such as beaches, places to see, and such. I will be starting in bangkok where i fly in. should i go to northern thailand and work my way down, or go to southern thailand, or should i stay in the bangkok area? any tips would be greatly appreciated.

also what good bars are there for solo american travelers?

My girlfriend and I want to travel together to Thailand. What are the visa requirements of a citizen of the People’s Republic of China for travel to Thailand?

Anyone ever done it? It must be possible!

I plan to travel to Thailand on the 25th and will be in Japan for 5 days. I was told to visit Shinjuku and travel around on the Shinkansen in order to conserve on my expenses. Specifically, I’m looking for a guide or site that would help me make the most of my experience (everything from which hotel to stay at, how to get around, and where to travel with my family who are in their upper 50s). I’ve never been tot he country and I don’t speak the language but if anybody can provide any help, I would greatly appreciate it. Best answer would be a site that can provide details for all of the aforementioned things. Thanks!

Traveling to this part of Asia on the first week of October and we’re thinking of taking a bus from Siem Reap to Bangkok.
1. How long will this take?
2. What time is the last trip out?
3. What’s the best and safest bus company to take?
4. How much is the cost (range)?
If by VAN – We’re 6 in the grooup so we can also get our own van – can you recommend a good one who will take us to Bangkok safely?

Hi, I’m planning on traveling around the world next year and I
need to really start planning now. I’ve already contacted a travel agent (STA travel) and mapped out my ideal travel coordinates.
From California
9 Weeks through the west side of South America (Ecuador down to Argentina)
Volunteer 2-3 Weeks in Kenya
2 Weeks in Egypt
3 weeks in Greece
3 days Israel
5-7 days Jordan
Volunteer 2 Weeks Thailand
3-4 Weeks Vietnam
I’m doing this alone since none of my friends or family seems to want to. I’m a bit concerned since I’m a twenty-something female traveling alone so I just want to know what precautions I need. Should I be careful and tour some of the countries?
What budget should I save up?
I only have an Eagle Creek backpack for my whole trip and I’ve never really learned to pack light so what do I need to do to pack modestly? (sleeping bags needed?)
As you can see, I wanna learned EVERYTHING I can now.
Thanks.

I was in Bangkok recently, and at my hotel there was a big sign saying “No Sex Tourists”. This is important because Bangkok has a lot of sex tourists, and most of the hotels look the other way. But not my hotel. They were adamently against the whole idea of prostitution in Bangkok, and the sign explained why in a long list of reasons.
I found one of the reasons very surprising. It said that it is morally reprehensible for westerners to come to Thailand in order to buy sex, given that foreign exchange rates are favorable to westerners, and as a result it is much cheaper to buy sex in Thailand than in their home countries.
Clearly, one can find many legitimate reasons to argue against prostitution. But is this one of them?
It strikes me that westerners in Thailand are not just benefiting from the ForEx rates for buying sex. They are benefiting every time they spend money in Thailand, whether its for food or hotel or anything else. Is that morally wrong? Are they “taking advantage”?

Okay…so i’ve already posted a few questions. And i’ve gotten plenty of replies on whether to go to Phuket or Pattaya… From what i’ve gathered, pattaya is a bit run down… and phuket is nicer but it’s also run down in some areas. It is a bit more
expensive in phuket but is it worth it? Or, if we stayed in pattaya…could we take daily tours to islands in that area where the beaches are nicer…. We are from Hawaii…so we won’t be spending too much time laying out on the beach…more traveling by boats ….
What we want from this vacation is to experience the culture and to do some things out of the norm ….
1. elephant trekking
2. chartered boat rides to remote islands with beautiful beaches …jet skiing, parasailing etc…
3. clubbing…maybe beach parties as well…
4. crocadile farms and zoos
definitly going to do bangkok for a few days first..shopping, markets, temples…
but if anyone has any ideas on where else we should go while in thailand…please let me know !!!

the hotels are financed, but is it a too short period of time for Thailand, also considering the expensive flight?

Hello all! I am considering planning a honeymoon in Thailand. It will be at least a year from now, probably longer, so I have time. I just wanted to know if anyone has any recommendations for hotels, websites, activities, etc. I love adventure – type trips: surfing, hiking, etc. I’m rather adventurous with food, activities, whatever. And I would love to truly experience the culture, not just the touristy parts. I just want to make this a fun trip where we get out and do stuff, as opposed to wondering about aimlessly staring at each other (we’ll do that at night!). Lol! Any tips, advice, experiences are greatly appreciated!

I will be going to Thailand in 4 days and would like to spend a day or two visiting some of the ethnic minorities in Chiang Mai. However, I don’t feel like spending 300-400 dollars on a tour package. Will I do fine going into the villages and interacting with the local minorities on my own? Just interested in learning more about them specially the Hmong people. And also, any other suggestions as in what must i see or do while in chiang mai, bangkok and phuket??? your answers will be appreciated. I will be traveling on my own and want to make a tenative list of what i should do/see. Thanks!!!! One more, how rainy is the rainy season right now and will i make it in Thailand for two weeks with just US$2,000 or should i budget more? Ok, i lied. one more. how easily is it to get a room walking in or should i book head? i really ahve no plans and dont want to book ahead. i will arrive at 2am local time and want to find a cheap hotel close to the airport. any suggestion?

It is practically impossible to set a number because the visa required depends on the circumstances.
Most countries in Asia allow visitors without visa.

Hi, I’m a 20-year-old Egyptian male and I’m thinking of traveling to Thailand in the coming future for at least a few weeks. I want to really mingle, see the Buddhist and historical sights, even learn enough of the language and the script.
To be honest I’m also very attracted to Thai women (facial features, body, etc) and I would look forward to a lot of dating or more while I was there. This isn’t meant to be disrespectful–I’d like to really experience the country, culture, language, intimacy, and all.
The thing is, while I have a fair bit of money, I’m not a “farang,” I have big almond brown eyes, thick wavy black hair, and a light brown complexion. I could look almost Thai if my eyes were different. I’m also average height for a Thai male (around 170 cm). I know Thai girls really prefer rich Westerners with light complexions, but does that mean not many would be interested in me?
So the question, besides the one about Thai girls’ preferences, is basically, what knowledge should I master to make the most out of Thailand as a very involved tourist?
