I’m travelling to Thailand in couple of weeks and would like to know a few things. What do I do if I lose my passport or my debit card? How do I keep my things safe? Is it ok to use the hotel safe? Any other security precautions I should take
I was thinking of going for a 10 day holiday to bangkok, pattaya & phuket
We are a group of ladies going to Thailand next week Monday for a holiday. We are suppose to stay in Bangkok for 3 days and then 6 days in Phuket. Will it be safe for us to go. Should we rather go to Phuket straight away instead of going to Bankok.
I have just booked a non-refundable plane ticket from Bangkok to Hat Yi, with plans to travel to Kuala Lumpur. I am now reading that the insurgency is much worse than I thought. Is it safe to travel through the Thai / Malay border, January 2008? I can not find up-to-date info. Would especially appreciate advice from anyone who has been there, or decided not to. Thanks. Jesse
I ll be in holiday in Bangkok for 4 days. Im interested in visiting pattaya for one day.
Whats the cheapest way to travel there(from Bangkok) and how long will the journey take?
and is it a good plan to go to Pattaya early in the morning and come back in the evening.

Looking to spend a month or month and a half Traveling Thailand/Vietnam/Cambodia HELP ME WITH DAILY BUDGET! Hotel…Food…Tours…Travel…Other Costs
coz i like to travel there and see there beautiful places
I recently visited Thailand where the voltage at hotel and residential outlets is 220. I tried to purchase a 5W stepdown transformer, but all I could find were 1600W transformers, which I have heard can damage small items like ipods, computers, camera battery chargers, etc. Where can I purchase a 5W transformer either here in the USA online, or in Thailand (Big C, etc)?
I am considering/in the planning stages of taking a trip through Europe and Asia during the 2009 year.
Rather than this being a hectic & rushed, short vacation, I am intending for this to be an extended leisurely trip (at least 3 – 4 months (if not longer) through Europe & 1 – 2 months in Asia)
Because this is not only going to be my first “solo trip” without my parents & family (yes, I know, that’s embarrassing!!) but also my first time traveling internationally to a foreign country/countries, with the exception of going to India with my family, to visit relatives, I would really appreciate any help, advice or travel tips that I can get from those familiar with travel in Europe and Asia,
In addition to the usual/classic European & Asian travel destinations (France, Japan Germany, Hong Kong, Switzerland, Holland/Netherlands, Italy, Spain, etc.) I am also interested in visiting many “off-the-beaten-path” places like Latvia, Lithuania, Thailand, Belarus, Malaysia, Poland and Ukraine.
The tentative list of all the countries I’m interested in visiting on this trip are:
Europe
England, Scotland, Ireland, Wales, Iceland, Portugal, Spain, France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Monaco, Corsica, Sardinia, Sicily, Malta, Italy, Vatican City, San Marino, Liechtenstein, Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Czech Republic, Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Greece, Hungary, Slovakia, Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, Moldova, Ukraine, Belarus, Kaliningrad, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Finland, Russia, Turkey, Cyprus
Asia
Japan, China, Mongolia, South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Bali, the Philippines, Hong Kong, Taiwan
I am looking for advice on the best months to go where (with an estimated travel range between January & August of 2009, as I have to finish my travel and be back in the US by beginning of August 4-5, 2009 at the latest), what things to pack for an extended trip, the best & safest, yet most reasonably priced hostels, inns, or hotels, and ways to get around within or between any particular locales,
What kinds of clothing and other supplies should I pack and what stuff can I leave behind and just buy there?? For example do I need to
pack enough tampons/pads for the WHOLE trip or can I just take a few, or enough for a short time and get the rest in Europe and Asia??
What clothing should I pack? What about other supplies like toothpaste, shampoo and conditioner, etc?? What, and how much do I need to pack of those??
Also, except for a 3 years of high school Spanish & a semester or so in college – a lot of which I have now forgotten, I am do not (yet!) speak the language(s) of any of the countries I’ll be visiting, so I will be taking along a talking translator with languages for most, if not all the countries I’m going to. But would that be one-sided? I mean if I put what I want to say in the translator, and they translate it, how will I get the response of the person I’m speaking to?
Nevertheless, I would still like to get some tips from anyone who is familiar with the above named countries, and can help me.
Thanks!

Well it sort of depends on you! Are you a minor? Do you have the money? Do you have the time? Do you have a passport? Are you incapacitated in any way that would require assistants to aid you getting around (then you have to pay for their tickets too!)
Thailand is very tourist friendly. Lots of families, couples and single travelers visit Thailand all the time. Buy or check out of a library some travel guides to look over. Lonely Planet is very popular for economy travelers and single travelers.
Look over the travel manuals and check out some of the data on the below travel forums and plan your moves ahead of time to save time and money.
When you leave will affect the price of your ticket and the type of weather you get in Thailand. Late November through early February may be the best time to visit but it is also the high season and the most expensive for hotels and the most crowded with tourists. Close to Christmas and the New Years holidays are the most expensive. Airfare is higher close to Christmas. From the US/Canada airfare is higher from June to September when the kids get out of college to when they return. Flying on holidays and weekends often cost more too!
Tourists do travel to Thailand every month. Low season is when there are fewer tourists and cheaper hotel rooms. Somewhere between May through to October you will find the lowest priced hotel rooms. This is also when you either get warmer weather and or more rainfall.http://www.guidetothailand.com/thailand-…
Plan your budget out. Figure out how much you have available for hotel rooms, local transportation, food and souvenirs after you deduct for the cost of your plane ticket. After you make up your mind as to when and where you want to travel then you can ask for some specific advice. When you need hotel recommendations mention how much you want to pay for a room – use a baht figure – not cheap, economy, etc.
I have come across travelers of all ages traveling through Thailand, even older female travelers in their eighties having a good time. Over the years I have even seen more travelers in Thailand in wheel chairs and with other handicaps having a ball.
Find the time, get the money and go for it! My favorite time is during the July – August – September months when there are fewer tourists around.
Good luck.
Hi guys, my name is sofia, I live in Los Angeles. Help! My boyfriend and I would really like to get away this year, at the end of December, possibly beginning of January for an eight or nine day vacation, Our budget is limited, and Im really vexd on where we should go. My best friend’s are going to pukhet Thailand, but I can’t seem to find anything reasonable during that peak holiday season. We really don’t have to travel there. My boyfriend has NEVER been outside the united states (I know:) so I wanted to bring him somewhere unique, exotic, and fun… I was hoping you might have a good idea, maybe a story from one of your travels that you would like to share with me. I am really overwhelmed! Ideally our budget is really only about $2,ooo per person airfare, hotel, and food, and I DON’T want to take a cruise! lol.. Am I crazy, or is this doable? I would so appreciate your help! I have a fantastic two bedroom apt between westwood and Beverly hills, anyone up for a home swap:) Thx Sofia

I would just like to confirm what would be the best way to travel between the two islands. I have never been and have no idea what is the easiest way to go, especially as I can’t seem to book it before hand. Many thanks.

I’m planning a trip starting in Bali, going to the Phi Phi Islands, to Singapore, to Colombo, to the Maldives, to Mumbai, to Nairobi, to Cairo, to Athens and then home. What I’m trying to figure out is whether or not there is a better way to arrange my flights other than expedia.com. The trouble I’m currently having is getting from Bali, Indonesia to the Phi Phi Islands in Thailand and then from the islands to Singapore. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!
Over the last few months I have been studying basic Buddhist teachings and principles and found that these match up with how I view the world and the complexities of the human condition. I would like to further myself in these teachings and this way of life, and I think soon it would be a good time for me to travel to a Buddhist country to interact and learn from its people and monks.
I am thinking Thailand, as it is of the Theravada tradition, which is the path I am taking, and it would be very cheap from what I hear, with very friendly people. I plan on staying for only about 2 weeks to a month. Any other suggestions, or would Thailand be a good place to travel and learn about Buddhist culture first hand?
This is a holiday visa he needs not a working visa. Can he get this from a travel agent?
Any tips what I should or shouldn’t do/avoid/keep in mind.
I would appreciate any tips at all.
Anybody had bad experience at all?
I’ll be flying into Bangkok and wanna see Koh Samui, Pattaya, and Phuket. What is the best order to take, that will save me time and money… from Bangkok I would like to visit Koh Samui first then in any order Pattaya and Phuket… and I have to be back in Bangkok again. Is 14 days enough for this? Please give me any additional info that you may want to give and know. I prefer to stay beachfront… but affordable, clean and safe. Please give costs too if you can, thank you.
I am an American currently living and working in China. I will soon be traveling to Thailand for three weeks. I do not have an international bank account because my employer set up a bank account for me in China (Bank of Communications). I am unsure the best way to take my RMB with me to China. Would I loose too much money if I exchanged my RMB to USD and then USD to Thailand Baht? Any and all advice would be much appreciated! Thank you.
I will be travelling in Bangkok soon and was wondering if it’s better to use the ATM’s to get cash or bring Travellers checks? Please advise.
