So far during these past protests tourists have not been the targets. Tourists were inconvenienced but not directly assaulted.
If we could predict the future we would all be millionaires! What will happen in January - who knows? Keep in mind that if something comes up have a “plan B” in place on how to get back home. (For instance you can go to a nearby country and fly from there if things are not quickly attended to and your airline may switch the flight for you - for free!)
I had a flight back home scheduled on the first day of the protest at the airport. I got the idea right away that this was going to go on for a while and booked a train to Hat Yai and from there went to Butterworth and from there to Singapore via KL. My airline paid for the flight home from there. Made it back to my home country 8 days before the others left Thailand. (Had some business to attend to or I would stayed in Thailand.)
Don’t waste too much of your time mostly in beach areas. You can even get a tan in Bangkok or even Chiang Mai. Try to fit a visit into Chiang Mai if you can so you can see some of the things that make Thailand unique.
Good luck.
I’m planning a trip to Thailand for next year and wanted to go to both Bangkok and Phuket but i am not sure whether it is easier to catch a bus or by airplane??
Thanks in advance.
We are 30 and 33 year old professionals, based in San Francisco and planning a honeymoon in Asia in August. We are going to Bali for the first week and then would like to spend 4 nights somewhere in Thailand - Should we go to Phuket or Chiang Mai?? We would want to stay somewhere absolutely fabulous….

Me and my partner have booked Thailand for 60days we intend to stay in the cheapest possible places and dont mind slumming it some of the time. We have £2700 together but just wondered if this is enough to live basically and use the sleepy trains as a nights accomodation when travelling around.
Many Thanks xx
Your baby will need travel document rather than birth certificate for traveling out-country. You can either get a passport for your baby, or you can include your baby into your passport for travel as accompanied child. It is easy, just go to your Immigration office and either apply for your baby or incorporate into your passport.
She can travel to Schengen area, the continental European Union, with a proper valid visa, but not without visa for 2 reasons:
(1) She holds Thai passport which has no visa free access on Schengen area
(2) UK is not a member of Schengen treaty and there are immigration controls between UK and Schengen area.

my question is:for which amount of money should I have cheques for travelling 5 weeks, low-budget, but not extremely low-buget either, I´ll take long distance traind and possibly national flights as well
how much money should I calculate for each day?
I´ll be there 34 days….

After travelling out of europe (to Thailand) last summer and catching the travel bug, I am thinking about where to travel to (on a young professional’s budget) this summer. As I am a primary teacher I am restricted to August summer hols. Would like to visit somewhere that is guaranteed warm weather this time of year! Can anyone offer any good suggestions? Thanks! x
We have family there who can’t wait to see him and we really need the break. Because of this, four months is our preferred option but I’m sure there are a number of issues that we have no experience of.
As an aside, would we be able to enjoy a little time on the beach with a four month, would it be more realistic when he is ten months or are either ages just a bit too young for this?
Nice question but what is your departure point ? If you are from India you will need Visa’s for both Countries as you have to prove that you have the funds for your trip and you are a genuine tourist.
I have yet to go to Korea but I know that the standard of living is much higher so you will need more money there. Including Hotel, food + drinks you should budget at least 2000 baht a day - if you want to do trips or more then budget 3500 baht a day in Thailand.
As for flight prices it depends where you are travelling from it could be as little as $500 or as much as $5000 dollars.
More information required please

I’m coming alone…
It varies, because there’s good competition on LON-BKK, and airlines have sales. I see £300 rtn here: http://www.cheapflights.co.uk/flights/Ba… — you can easily update cities on that site to see the cheapest available offers from airlines, as well as airfare consolidators (aka “bucket shops”).
I am from the UK and wish to travel to Thia land, I would like to just get a one way ticket in and once there decide where to head next either by train, plane or otherwise. Can anybody tell me what is the best way of sorting Visa out?
And any other tips would be appriecated.
Thanks in advance
