I would like someplace near the beach, cheap, not too crowded, direct access to good snorkeling areas, and lots of local Thai food from street venders, or other cheap eateries. Any suggestions?
How short? You automatically get 15 days on arrival, or you can get 60 day tourist visa or 90 days (in certain circumstances) from the embassy — see the details at the embassy website – http://www.thaiembassyuk.org.uk/vmp.htm .
I’m coming alone…
Are there markets close by? I really want cheap clothing and mabye some basketball gear will i find this in Bangkok?
Please share any helpful info if you’ve done this…thanks
I’m looking for a place that’s not too expensive, but I don’t want to have roaches for roommates too.

I’m thinking about going to Thailand for schoolies. I’ll be going with like 12 girls and i was wondering where is a nice beach that is close to Patong? I stayed at Patong earlier this year and though personally i loved it i know my friends would find the beach disgusting. I’ve heard that Kata is nice but is it expensive and is there much to do there? Also would you recommend Bangkok for a couple of days if you have been there? Thanks
then to thailand to a resort with her friends family> they are malaysian.
For party animals it is Patong. For a nicer beach definitely Karon.
Me and a few friends are heading to Pattaya in a few weeks. Where is the best location to stay in terms if close proximity to nightclubs, bars, entertainment, etc?
Basically, we want to be near the hustle and bustle and where everything is happening!
Where in Pattaya should we tell the cab driver to take us from Bangkok Airport?
Thanks!

You are going to have a difficult time getting a visa for your girlfriend
My wife is Ukrainian and we had horrendous problems with visas.
Unfortunately even if all your documentation is correct you will still be judged as if in a court of law where you are guilty until you can prove yourself innocent.
Your girlfriend will more likely than not be refused a visitors visa at the first attempt , and it make take considerable time and expense before you are successful.
You just have to stick at it and hopefully eventually you will be successful.
Good luck

I am graduating from college in May and I am trying to plan a trip to Thailand with two good friends. I want to go somewhere exciting near the beach. I want to go somewhere that really encompasses Thai culture, with beautiful landscapes and such. Also, I want to stay in an area that is safe for western tourists
you can rent in Thailand for as long as you like. cost will not be cheap for a house on the beach. however i need to correct the person who answer before me. land usually can not be owned by foreigners so they arrange a 30 year lease of the land with the option to another 30 years. you can own the house but usually not the land. Condo’s are the expection but that’s another long answer.
I am planning to go to bangkok on May. A friend told me Sukhumvit is very accessible to shopping. I want to do side tours also. Any suggestions? please help, i want to make the most out of my tour. I am looking for best bargain hotel/accomodation also.
if you want to go there, your best bet would be to contact a travel agent from there.. just type in “travel agents in phi phi island” or “travel agents in thailand” another thing to do would be to go to a yahoo chatroom from thailand and ask someone there who is from that area…

Wow maybe the prices went up! I went to Thailand a few years back as a backpacker and was paying $2 or $5 a night, admittedly not for a hotel and sharing a room, so I thought I’d find a nice hotel place for around $100 a night – doesn’t look possible – is it just Phuket perhaps, maybe some other Thai destinations by the beach are cheaper – I’m looking for somewhere quiet though – not the full moon party zone!
to meet a filipina lady–beach resort a plus—thailand [patong ]would be my second choice—-
I will be going with son 15yrs and my friend and her son 13yrs. would like to go beginning of july. thanks
Were heading over to Phuket for the first time (have been to Thailand before) but haven’t booked accommodation yet.
We want to stay in an area which is close to night clubs, bars and general entertainment and not too far from the beach!
Can anyone advise us on what part of the island we can get all this? I’ve heard that Phuket is pretty lively in general, but we want to stay in the most liveliest area!
It would also be pretty handy if you could tell us how much the approximate taxi fare is from the airport to the area.
Thanks!
I have been to Thailand over the last 4 years always on a 30 day visa and soon free of my job as my contract is up in September so will have a good few months free after then and staying with my GF at Uni in Khon Kaen for as long as possible
What is the best way to get a 60 or 90 day Visa or can I stay longer I cant afford to fly in and out to another country either I am staying as a tourist we will only stay her home or in apartments I am not going to work there
anybody done something similar or what you can advise me
And how long to get this sorted sending passports away etc Will a return ticket to Uk with a 2 or 3 month date be accepted just worried about that part
I go back to Thailand next month for 2 weeks so can get anything I would need when I am there
thanks in advance
We are going in 2 weeks, we get in at 9pm and leave the next morning at 7am, so we just need to be able to eat & bathe, a massage would be nice but not required, and I dont want to stay in a complete hole in the wall if possible. The Novotel is too expensive, the 4 others close by are all very inexpensive (between $27-$40) and I was hoping someone might recommend one of them over the other. The hotels are Queen`s Garden Resort At Riverview, Floral Shire Resort Bangkok, Convenient Resort, and Suvarnabhumi Grand Residence. If you know of a different reasonably priced one too that would be great too! Thanks for your help!
In Thailand they have what they call “serviced apartments,” which cater to mostly long–term guests, but most will also rent the rooms on a daily or weekly basis. Many offer 1-3 bedrrooms or studios, most have kitchenettes and will range from basic accomodation to ultra-luxurious in all price ranges. Many have restaurants, bars, pools and fitness centers with daily maid service, hence the name serviced apartments. I know you can try www.thailandservicedapartments.com, they have listings for many cities in Thailand, or you might try whatever city you’re going to be in, followed by serviced apartments in your browser (for ex.: Bangkok serviced apartments). You will find Bangkok has the most listings, as it is the business centre of Thailand, but there are offerings in other cities as well. I’ve had friends who have stayed in a few of the nicer ones, and the accomodation was first rate. Good luck!
