I am deciding between buying a 60 to 70 Liter bag or a suitcase. I already have a day bag that I will be bringing with me. What is the best brand for a back pack? I will be traveling through Korea for a month, and then I will go to Thailand for two weeks, and then go to Taiwan for 3 months. So which should I buy?

My dad is in Vietnam, Cambodia, and Thailand traveling. I have two small children and we are going to visit him when he gets back to the states. Do you think it is wise for me to visit the week he comes back….or do I need to wait and see if he has any illnesses that Americans don’t have an immunity built up against? How long do I need to wait.
I apologize if this is a culturally insensitive question…but I have two little ones to watch out for.

G’day mates
Me and my mate are going to Bangkok for 2 weeks during 20th jan to 3rd of feb and we were wondering if we should book online or rock up to the hotel. Is Bangkok busy during this time? Also wanted to know what part of bangkok is the best place to be to enjoy the nightlife and shopping?
My friend also wants to know if $5000 AUD is too much for 2 weeks. He said would that be a good amount if u want a hotel around $140.

I was planning a trip to Thailand for a few weeks in June/July 2007. We were going to fly into Bangkok and travel immediately south to the beaches and into Malaysia, then back up to Bangkok for a day and fly home. With everything going on over there, I’m not quite sure what to do. Trying to get info on how this will affect me as a tourist, if I should still buy tickets, or if I should fly through somewhere else. Any suggestions?!?!

I’ve heard hotels are pricey and low quality, so I’m hesitant to book. But it sounds like a lovely place where I’d wanna stay more than just a few hours before rushing back.
People who have been there, done that: what do you think?

I am making my mine that which airline I should fly from Bangkok to London, with reasonable price. Transit one is ok. Anybody can suggest me?

you should go see the statue of Buddah, some are made out of pure gold

Call me paranoid but I need advice… I have come in contact with a man that I think maybe a potential child molester. I have found out he is a 1st grade teacher, loves to have a class of little girls and goes to Thailand every summer ( if you watch MSN to catch a predator you’ll understand why the Thailand thing is a big point). He is a older white male, single no children not too mention he looks very creepy. Maybe I watch too much to catch a predator but something smells fishy. I’m not the only person who has come in to contact with this man who thinks the same thing. My questions is should I wait to report until he does something IF he is, or inform someone of my suspicion? if so how?

myself and my partner are wondering what amount of money would be suitable for this lenth of time and should we take it all in travellers cheques? We are not living in hotels more back packer style. Eating and sleeping and travelling on the cheap?

my girlfriends and i are planning a trip to thailand in september. we just found out it’s gonna be the rainy sason there. where should we go in thailand that wouldn’t be so terrible during that time? oh also we would only want to stay at 5 star hotels and it has to be relatively close to the nightlife.

I have a plan to backpacking to Thailand next January or next summer, please tell me how much money I need for low budget traveling?and please tell me good restaurant/places to eat and also good hostel/cheap hotel
thanks

There’s one one Suvarnabhumi (BKK). Then either take a taxi or bus to Pattaya.

I am planning a trip to Bangkok in late July/early August. I was wondering how much money (US dollars) I should bring. I will be staying with friends, and so I will not be paying for accommodations. I won’t be shopping much, but we will be going out drinking and maybe planning a short trip somewhere else. Also, should I bring traveler’s checks? I was planning on just bringing my Visa debit card, but a lot of things I have been reading suggest traveler’s checks. Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

Hi there! I am planning to go to Thailand – to Bangkok & to a beach in mid Oct. What weather can I expect? I read in travel guides that it is monsoon season in Oct. But does it really rains a lot or just a heavy rain for a hour? I would not mind if it just rains for an hour or so. But i do not want to be locked up in a hotel because of rain. I wonder if i should reschedule the vacation?

Ok, so me and my friend are saving up to go to bangkok, thailand. Airfare is about one thousand. i was thinking about an additional 500 dollars each. We are both 19 and plan to visit friends, party at a clean club, do some shopping, and sight seeing. Although there is a lot to see in Bangkok, we also want to relax and not be so touristy. We plan on eating local food and hanging out with friends from the city. How much should we have to spend?

I am planning a trip where I want to travel from Bangkok to Hat Yai (where I will catch a train to Kuala Lumpar). I plan to have about 8 days in Thailand. Can anyone suggest the best route, the best things to see and do and the best ways to travel without wasting too much of my day on public transport! Thanks

I spent six months living on Koh Tao when I was doing my scuba instructor course in 2004 and it was great… but the diving on the west coast of Thailand is much, much better. More marine life, more coral, much better visibility, the chance of seeing manta rays…
Koh Phi Phi and Koh Lanta are good backpacker options – much cheaper than Phuket which is crazily expensive these days. I’ve dived with www.godive-lanta.com several times and they are a great bunch of guys. Check their site for PADI Open Water course prices – (the course you need to do to learn to dive).
Alternatively, if you really want to see the good stuff, do a Similan Islands liveaboard for 4 days – the Similan Islands are renown as one of the best places to dive in the world, and definitely the best place to dive in Thailand. The course won’t be as cheap because you have to pay for a liveaboard too, but you will have an amazing time and also you’ll do a total of 13 dives, which means you’ll feel super confident and well-practised in the water – much better than just the four dives you do during the OW course. Check out www.phuket-diving-safaris.com for Similan liveaboards.
I’ve also written more stuff about diving in Thailand on my own website www.divehappy.com if you want more info.
I’d definitely avoid Pattaya as a place to learn to dive – the viz is awful and there’s so many jetskis it’s pretty dangerous.
Have fun!

The date is January and February 2007. This estimated cost should include hostel, food, transport and things like that. I appreciate if you can give me your recommedations in US dollars. Thanks a lot!
One more thing, I’m from Argentina, so budget travel means really that!

Just wanna know the pricing, locations, etc; any and all suggestions will be helpful.

i am planning to travel to bangkok in this month and would like to know if it is economical and whether you get original products in bangkok?if yes where in bangkok?somebody please help.
