Hi, I am planning to go to Thailand in September 07. I am there for 4-5 days and am landing in Bangkok. Please let me know the following:
1. Is it the right time to go? Or is there a lot of rain?
2. Where should i definitely visit when in Thailand? Any special sightseeing places?
3. If I have my partner with me, where can I go to enjoy the night life? I want to sample the go-go bars and stuff but in a safe manner…..just want to see the places.
4. What should I definitely shop for? How are the prices? Do you bargain?
5. Where should I stay? Which area/location? Good budget hotels?

if your thailand passport is not expired, you will can use it to enter thailand and use your green card to go back to US. if your trip is longer than 6 months, you will need to apply for a reentry permit so that you can go back to US.
If your thailand passport is already expired, you will need to apply for Thai visa.

The best thing to do is get a tourist visa which is good for 60 days and you can extend it once for an additional 30 days. Google the website of the Thai embassy in your country for details. As for shots no you don’t need any additional shots, but check with your doctor to see that all your required shots are up to date

My partner and I are flying from the UK to Bangkok on Christmas day. We are in Bangkok for three days, and then we fly north to Chaing Mai for another three days. The final part of out holiday is going to be spent in Phuket.
All accommodation and flights are paid for, we are staying in four and five star hotels. We have breakfast provided for us in Phuket but the rest of our meals will need to be paid for.
We would like to soak up the culture and see some of the sights. We also are desperate to go on an elephant trek through the forest.
Bearing all of this in mind, how much would you estimate that we will need for our holiday?

HIS STORY:
Help! I’m getting married and I’m getting screwed over!?
I’ll be getting married next month. All the wedding preparations are done, all the guests are invited, and everything is now ready.
My to-be-wife is acting weird and fighting – every single day. For the last 2 weeks now, she has been in a constant fight. Every day, I ask her to stop fighting and stop her anger and just talk to me normally. But she ignores me and invents something, or assumes something, or whatever and finds something to blow up on.
It’s too late for me to back out now.
What do I do? Should I make her life hell after marriage just to get back at her for what she’s doing to me now? I’m such a nice guy… no matter what somebody does to me, I can forgive them, if they ask for forgiveness. But my fiancee doesn’t even care. She’s fighting too much and showing me too much anger. Her parents don’t give a damn and only blame me if anybody.
What do I do? I can’t cancel the wedding just like that now – I’ll look like a fool to come this far and then back out now. It’d make ME look indecisive and a drama-king! My fiancee promised me that after I propose to her, she’ll stop fighting and her assuming and raging anger. But it only stopped for a week or two!
Oh and I’ve tried to talk to her in every way possible. But she isn’t getting angry because of a problem (because the problem changes for each fight, or the same fight repeats like “action replay” for a gazillion times). There is no silver bullet to fix this fight problem.

what would anyone do, if for the past 4 years….your partner…”who is so good to you”…has gone on a trip and kissed his cousin, so interested in her to even go check on her bra size….so interested in her that even her mum had to fight with her own sister to stop her son from ******* around with her daugher…and all this is happening while youre back home…..and you get newws of it….how is a person supposed to feel when you go on a trip to thailand with your partner….never expecting him to be hiring a masseus hooker and sucking on her **** right in the same bed as you, thinking that you’re sound asleep…hard to believe right? then when you get up, to be shocked….he stands up for the hooker…disses you and tell you to go cry to your mum to get a flight ticket back to canada..and you have no cash or cards coz everything is joint with him and he snatches it all away from you? and it’s your first night in thailand, valentines night, and you’re just so exhausted, and the last thing you expect your partner to be is disloyal….how would you feel if your partner listens to his friend that its ok to have intercourse on certain days without protection while you tell him not to, then he gets you pregnant…forces you to get an abortion, and slaps you hard the very next morning. and yet after all of this…yeah my parents dont give a damn…though any parents in their right mind wouldnt want their daughter to go through this….yet, they just wanted my happiness…iver kept running back to this fool in hopes that he’ll change his dirty habits.now if im going mad and crazy for the past 2 weeks….there has to be a reason why…it definitely doesnt happen out of the blue. so i accepted the marriage proposal since his own mother is desperate for some excitement to happen in her life as her own husband is cheating on her and avoiding her currently. i mainly accepted it to save the shame of being with someone for 4 years and it’d look bad especially for a girl to leave a relationship again. i told myself to try to forget the condemning past which haunts me everyday…the sight of him, to my horror playing with the hooker and all that…told myself to learn to love the guy again…gave him my conditions before proceeding, and he gave me his….all he required was for me to stop being angry…..now if he was the first one to break his conditions after that…why shouldnt i get angry…my own neighbour told me while i was away and went back to him, after we agreed to marriage, that they swore he had a girl over and they heard intercourse sounds and his voice clearly. still i choose not to believe them after knowing his character. then i told him to leave his disgusting addiction to porn…he completely agreed to that….and the next thing i knowl….i found out that he’s been uploading them and sending them to his friends to share the fun with him…his addcition is so bad that even when i go shower for 10 minutes…he’ll watch it and turn the computer off and pretend to be just getting up so i thought he was sleeping all along. maybe porn isnt wrong to some people, but i

You don’t provide much info – if you are planning on bringing home a girl who you have yet to meet you may want to rethink your plan. Thailand has the best looking women in the world but their culture and our culture don’t join well. (Not to say it can’t work but it will be very very hard.) They are very interested in gaining status WITHIN their families by giving large gifts and costly status symbols to older relatives that raise the status of the family relative to others. The problem is that if she is with you she and her family will feel that your assets are pretty much theirs! It sounds like a con but most of the time it is not – its just the way their culture is – they would treat a Thai man who had any kind of resources the same way. He would be glad to have the chance to prove how kind and giving he is by spending money he may not have to buy her family somthing they probably don’t need. They really value giving. If she feels like you are not giving enough she will try to give you chances to give – she may even create a chance for you (lie). In her eyes, and the eyes of an outside Thai observer, she is doing you a favor – giving you a chance to look good and prove you are a giving person. Of course if you catch her in lies to get money you would probably not be very happy – she genuinely won’t understand why you think it is such a big deal.
One real life example that happened to me (not romantic in nature but showing how the two cultures can clash.)
I buy an item from a street vendor. I pay way way more than I should. The street vendor at the next table waits and once I have paid the first vendor offers to sell me the same item for less than half of what I paid. I decline and go about my business figuring that I got taken but it was a small amount of money and probably will help make the poor vendors life a bit better.
A few days later I walk past the first vendor who tells me that the 2nd vendors item was a fake – that the one I got was real. I walked away without saying anything – now I was sort of pissed. It was one thing to take advantage of my not knowing what the item was worth – thats how the world works – but now she was telling me a lie that only a total idiot would believe, and probably wanting to sell me some more junk. (The item was not branded – there is no way that one was a copy and one an original)
In her mind – I now realize years later – she was doing me a favor. She and the other vendor had made me look bad so she was telling me a lie, that she knew I would know was a lie, so that I could pretend to believe it so that I wouldn’t look bad!
You can certainly learn about the culture and understand more but I think that you have to be Thai to really understand what is going on in any given exchange. Now when I am in Thailand I know some of the obvious cultural diffs and I know enough to suspend judgement when somthing that seems utterly crazy starts to make me mad. When I don’t understand what is going on I ask a Thai friend, sometimes I learn, often I am left even more confused.
That is why Thailand is such a great place to visit – as a Westerner you learn more every time you go – we will probably never really “get it.”
One other thing – all of the above should be ignored if you are talking about a prostitute. They really do just want to take your money for greedy reasons!
