I’m a US citizen. She said she needs some document saying that I’m here to help support her when she comes to visit. Where do I go to get this document? Immigration?

I am thinking about taking traveller cheques with me…
my question is:for which amount of money should I have cheques for travelling 5 weeks, low-budget, but not extremely low-buget either, I´ll take long distance traind and possibly national flights as well
how much money should I calculate for each day?
I´ll be there 34 days….

If she does what does she need to do to get one? and how does she do it?
Thanks

Hello! I am going to Thailand for about a week. While I plan on visiting some of the more common tourist attractions, (The Grand Palace, Vimanmek Royal Mansion, What Pho, Wat Arun, etc.) I’m also looking for some of the awesome things that aren’t always listed on the web or in guide books.
What are the must-sees that you don’t always hear about?
ALSO, we’re going to take a bus to another area - one with beautiful beaches. We think we’re going to pick Phuket, but is there maybe another beautiful beach area that is less known?
Thanks!

My family will help pay for hotel and food. But everything else I’d have to bring my own money for. So far I’m bringing $900 USD & I’m thinking about bring an additional $250-300 USD. (We’re going on a tour which is ~$600 USD & I’m paying that.) Is $500 USD enough for leisure spending for 4 weeks in Asia? Thanks for advice/info. :)

I have been once before and it was GREAT. Of course I hit Walking Street and a few of the bars, the best of which I thought was Angel Witch. I stayed at the Residence Garden last time. Is anyone married to or has been married to a NON-bar girl from Thailand? Any advice on that?

What is the dress code on the Islands at night time, when going out to dinner bars etc? Is it reasonably casual? Also up north Chang mai, pai etc?

ago, please tell me this isnt the case ?? Has anyone been there recently ?? Whats it like honestly !!

you can try beach/rock fishing in Phuket Island….great!

Are you still going to go to Thailand or will you go somewhere else?

We are moving us and our cat to Thailand from the UK. Is any quarantine required or do we need any vets certificates? Anyone with any similar experiences or better at searching the net than me?

Will be there 5 days. Too expensive for us to fly somewhere else out of Bangkok.

Do you think $2000 US dollars is enough or to much?

Where would u advise to go for new year’s eve? My friend wanted to go to Ilha Grande but now changed her mind for Florianopolis…if u know any of these places and know a nice, central, cheap hostel or hotel that would be greatly appreciated.
I also heard from most people I know who have been there that they got mugged at some stage or another. I ve been to India and Thailand and never had any problem but I m now worried about going to Brazil as we are 2 girls travelling on our own. What do yous think?

i ask this because if i was white, no way will i step into any non white country for my safety
the mumbai guys who killed lots of folks recently went into all the hotel rooms searching for white americans and british to kdnap
then some woman and her husband and los of other americans were kidnapped in the philipines and one of them was beheaded, the other was shot to death bt the woman was released after ransom of a half a million dollars
nigerians kidnap white people for ransom money
south americans kidnap white people for ransom money
middleasterners behead whtes just to make a statement against the west hence you will be like a walking bulleye in the mideast
whtes are kidnapped in thailand for ransom money
a group of whites got bombed in bali by islamic radicals.
so do you think it is best to stick to white countries to visit ?

How much is the terminal fee from bangkok intl airport (BKK) going to manila? Are there any other fees you will pay in BKK?

My Thai friends call me in the UK using Skype. As my mobile in the UK is a Skypephone from 3, I have Skype on my mobile so I can receive their calls just like receiving any other call to my mobile. You can’t get cheaper than free. However, for this you will probably need to take a laptop with you and find out about internet access (for example pay as you go wifi access from True) or have internet access where you are staying that is set up for Skype. Thai mobiles, as far as I know, are not yet set up to include Skype; although if anyone has any information to the contrary I would be very interested to know ‘coz I’ll be in Thailand next month and would like to buy a mobile with Skype compatibility if such a thing is now available in Thailand.
Alternatively, and not quite as cheaply, calling/texting from a Thai mobile phone to a UK phone is not very expensive, about 10p per minute for calling (access code 009, soong soong gow, if i remember) and about 20p for a SMS. Thai mobile phone charges are generally not as expensive as in the UK ‘coz in the UK our beloved gov.t sold the mobile licences for as much as they could get and the mobile phone companies have to recoup the licence cost from the consumer. Result = UK mobile phone charges are very expensive compared to other countries.
Finally, if your friends are relatives can use MSN (aka Windows messenger) or Yahoo Messenger - there are plenty of internet cafes in Thailand where you can go in and communicate using these programmes. Many internet cafes have microphones/cameras so that use can use MSN for PC to PC video/voice calls too.
[Added later:
for calling a Thai mobile from my mobile in the UK I use dial2save 'coz it costs 1p per minute, in addition to the cost of dialling the UK access code (which is covered by my monthly bundle of minutes.)]

However I am on a later flight than my friends are. They not picking me up (so sad right?) and I will have to travel to Baiyoke Sky Hotel (222 Rajprarop Road, Rajthevee, Bangkok 10400, Thailand) alone. I will need some advice on the cab fare there! Should I go on a private cab or a public 1? I do not speak thai and wonder if they will bring me to the right place if I tell them baiyoke sky!

ok

This military coup is bad news. Will Bush want to intervene to forcibly hand the country back over to the Prime Minister?
