Is Anyone Else Aware Of The Complete Ignorance Our Goverment Is Showing In Response To The Coup In Thailand?
The Thai democracy is very different from our own. They are a completely different culture. They have a king and military to check the balance of power. If the prime minister and/or parliment are not acting in accordance with the wishes of the people, the king or the military take action. Of all the news coverage I have seen no explanation of thier system. Why must we as americans think we know best for everyone on this planet?

Hey guys, this is my first question, and its urgent… (sorry if its a little long, but its my entire future here at stake…) Right...

I am afraid that I am as ignorant as my government on this one.
the aspect of the coup is a very touchy and difficult thing- all countries in the world including us are standing back and watching for now. To see what is going to come from it all.
don’t be daft.
Why do you expect accurate, detailed, un-bias reporting from the major news networks in this country? I’m not fully aware of the details that convinced the army in Thailand to take control but when the King agrees, something must be wrong with the Prime Minister. I’ve been to Thailand several times and its a great country with wonderful people - and yes, their form of government is different than ours. That said, whenever the military takes control of a government at the end of a gun barrel, you have to wonder. Afterall, the government was elected by the people and the overthrow of a duly elected parliament is a serious affront to democracy.
Television news coverage tends to be shallow at best. I’ve seen much more reasoned accounts, including the background you’d like presented, in newspapers.
one night in Bangkok makes the whole world tremble
I think we’re already too involved. We can’t spread
our military out any further. So, Thai’s will have to
fend for themselves.
Thanks people for your intellectually concerns. We’re still wonder.
Yes. I’ve been thinking exactly the same thing - sat swearing at the TV at the bulls hit coming from the mouths of ‘experts’.
Its an absolute demonstration of how America has made a complete cock-up in every country it has invaded.
I lived in Chiang Mai, Thailand, for ten years, and there were regular bulletins from the US Embassy there that North Thailand was unsafe.
It never ever was unsafe in even the slightest degree, and no other Embassy ever issued a warning.
The American government has not the slightest idea what’s really happening anywhere.
They live in an imaginary world where everything is how they think because they say so. I think the American government leads the people so far astray that their naivety is unsurpassed.
First your mad because the U.S. appears to be not doing anything And the last sentence your mad because the U.S. does do things… Hard to have it both ways dude
In todays Journal it stated 80% of the Tais wanted a change and I did not see Bush rush any troops there?
The US Government is not ignorant. They are the highest intelligence agency in the world. There’s other countries you could live in if you do not like it here you know. Why don’t you check out Siberia!!!
