I am thinking about going to Thailand or somewhere else abroad for a 3 or 4 month contract to teach English. Does anyone know any legitimate websites with information about this? Have you taught English abroad or know anyone who has?

According to legend, King Ramkhamhaeng, The youngest son of King Si Inthratit, the first king of Thailand, modified the Sinhala (Sri Lankan) Script to create the Thai alphabet. The first written Thai language is inscribed on a stone known to Thais as the “Ramkhamhaeng stele”. However, The Thai alphabet doesn’t look like the Sinhala alphabet. Thai alphabet looks more like the Khmer (Cambodian) alphabet. Thai was once a part of the Khmer empire during King Ramkhamhaeng’s time. Was the Thai alphabet derived from the Khmer or Sinhala alphabet?

Do you like the Thai language or the Cambodian (Khmer) language better? Just in general what sounds better to you?
I personally think the Khmer language sounds better because it is stronger and sharp, but my friends like the Thai language better because it is softer. You can tell this difference from their music styles too.

I have a friend who is involved deeply with a thai girl 29 yrld who he wants to marry and she says she loves him and i do agree with him she is amazing and so nice and kind,but the thing that does bother me is that she says he is not a handsome man but he has a good heart,but it has me thinking that its just for security and money is this just my western way of thinking getting in the way or can love blossom in thai culture even if she doesnt find him handsome?.
I will say that she has strict eating diets for him (he is not fat) she doesnt drink or smoke and trys always to order him a pepsi before he can order another beer (he doesnt drink alot by the way).
Her way of taking care of him is so sweet and she really seems genuine.
I admit that i was gutted i didnt meet her first as she seems such a rare catch.
So i ask do you think she loves him after saying he isnt handsome ?

I want to convert amount in text format. In Excel BAHTTEXT() function is used to convert numbers into text format but the answer is in ‘Thai’ language. Is there any function in excel to convert any amount(numbers) into english like langauage. For eg.
The amount 101,235/- will be displayed as “One Lack One Thousand Two Hundred Thirty Five”

I need to get an information how and where can be marriage registration held for both non-residents, like in my case i am from Uzbekistan, (part of former USSR) and my fiancee is from Thailand, and we are NOT residents nor citizen of USA, and would like to get married here in US, is there any law in registration of such kind of marriage? When King Mengrai led his Thais into the Chiangmai area in the second haft of the 13th century, the Haripoonshai Kingdom of the Mons had already been a flourishing center of culture, art and religion for 600 years. As the Thai conquered the entire north, Haripoonshai became a priority area for King Mengrai and his successors and it was eventually incorporated into the Lanna Kingdom with its capital in Chiangmai.
The Thai adopted many of the Mon Buddhist art forms, particularly in architecture and statuary. In the 13th and 14th centuries, the structures and art of Haripoonshai showed marked signs of the merging of two cultures. Over the following centuries, the art, architecture and religion of the area became one. Today, the Mon Haripoonshai impact on northern Thai culture, particularly in its Buddhist aspects, is crucial to understanding and appreciating the architecture of northern Thailand.
The pure Haripoonshai features of these mediums can still be seen in some of the ancient temples built by Princess Jarmmathaewee 1,200 to 1,300 years ago. These are located in the city of Lamphun (Note: The word is actually pronounced as “Lumpoon”). The six temples are: Wat Jarmmathaewee, Wat Phrathart Haripoonshai, Wat Mahawan, Wat Phrayun, Wat Phrathuri, and Wat Phakhong. The first three of these are the most well-known, but all six date from the 8th and 9th centuries. Today, they are a marvel to view with their ancient jedees and statuary in sandstone and terra-cotta.
The three most outstanding examples of Mon architecture and art are Wat Jarmmathaewee, Wat Phrathart Haripoonshai, And Wat Mahawan. The first is located approximately 1 kilometer west of the city; the second is located between Inthayongyod Road, Lamphun’s main road, and the Guang River on the east; and, the third is two blocks west of the Haripoonshai National Museum, itself across the street from Wat Phrathart Haripoonshai.
