News Thailand Archives
Hi,
Do you have any suggestion on TV, Radio, Website in Thailand (English language)
For example: When the unrest took place, foreigners in Thailand have no ideas what happened because CNN hardly talk about it. I am wondering how can they get an immediate update –do they have any media about Thailand in English?
Thank you.
I get news from Thailand on all Yahoo sites, except Yahoo Malaysia.
Any idea why?
Two more injuries and losing or getting draws is this winners form?http://www.goal.com/en/news/9/england/20…
all i hear on the news is that the people are protesting but i have not yet heard why.
thanks

On BBC news, as always, yet again, Gary Glitter is on it refusing to leave Thailand insisting he is a free man and wants to go to another Asian country, do you think he should be allowed or should he come back to the UK which is what British authorities want?
I have just heard the news here in Australia so I don’t know how long ago the USA media have already shown this in the US.
It is not a pleasant piece of news and I’m sure those in the US are not happy – as would be if ANYONE from your own country are in that predicament.
However, I am also weary of people going into troubled areas, get into trouble – even after they are warned about the risk, and then EXPECT the government to rescue them.
(I am not just talking about Americans. There are other cases, for example, Aussies who ignore travel warnings and ventured into the Thai/Burmese border or those who ventured into the southern Thailand and then cry foul when they get into trouble)
Your comment? For or against OK with me as long as you keep it rational. Any name calling or personal attack on me or on other users WILL be reported.
Thanks

Derek Tonkin, former British ambassador in Vietnam, Laos and Thailand, said that after receiving her letter, the junta might be prepared “to have a working relationship of some kind” with Suu Kyi.http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20091003/wl_…
It would be further good news if Suu Kyi was able to start a review committee in conjunction with the government and a few of her party members to study the draft proposal constitutional amendments.
Good luck Myanmar and a special hello to the little novices who too should be learning about how constitutions work and are written.

Myth: The domino theory was proved false.
The domino theory was accurate. The ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) countries, Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand stayed free of Communism because of the U.S. commitment to Vietnam. The Indonesians threw the Soviets out in 1966 because of America’s commitment in Vietnam. Without that commitment, Communism would have swept all the way to the Malacca Straits that is south of Singapore and of great strategic importance to the free world. If you ask people who live in these countries that won the war in Vietnam, they have a different opinion from the American news media. The Vietnam War was the turning point for Communism. My mother always manages to write interesting letters without any real news at all but I just can’t do it. I have mentioned the fact it is snowing, my recent holiday to thailand and how i spent my birthday but this only amounts to half a page. HELP!!!!

the one i can think of was a news story about a misunderstanding. a couple had gone to thailand (from UK) but they werent enjoying it so decided to fly to Tenerife instead, however, (i cant imagine how) they booked a flight via a thai travel agent, and there was a bit of a language barrier, and they bought tickets to TEL AVIV instead. cant imagine how (they may have thought that is how the thai said/spelt tenerife?) anyway, they end up flying to Tel Aviv in Israel and had a hell of a job explaining why they were there to officials.. anyway, thats the silly news story i remember, whats yours?
post link if you cant be bothered to describe it (if yahoo lets you post links!)
I keep hearing about men going over to Thailand and taking advantage of young children there. I see it on the TV, internet and newspapers in the news all the time!
It is not giving Thai people a very good image of Wstern countries at all I bet and I feel so sorry for these poor girls/boys that are exploited there. Why has Thailand, in particular, become a target for paedophiles? Where are the stricter laws preventing this?
The latest, a British man:http://uk.news.yahoo.com/4/20090423/tuk-…
Thanks to the whitewash by the liberal news media everyone thinks he died of suicide in Thailand. Hogwash!!! That’s just were his body was found.
He was actually in Indonesia investigating a rumor that Barack Hussein Obama had been baptized as a Muslim. Kind of a coincidence that he died shortly after interviewing a witness who said he saw Obama swear allegiance on the Quran and swear never to do anything infidel like.
You can’t bury the truth forever. This stinks I tell you!!! Somethings rotten in the news media!!!
What are you doing to get the word out?
what im seeing in the news is that the hate for the israeli ppl is growing not only in the middle east but also in europe and australia and the far east. is it really safe for israeli tourists now? what do you think. Im sure the short visits of israeli ppl to egypt has been stopped.
also i seen only one or two in thailand. perhaps they are keeping a low profile? what do you think?

Recently, I had viewed a news of Thailand’s. It states that in Thailand, any forwarded emails deemed as propaganda, contains sexual content or is considered defamatory will be dealt with.
Now, I thought that any information that are on the internet are deemed private and a freedom of speech and people have the right to give their own views.
If the forwarded emails are invaded by the censor board and withheld for 90 days before it is being let go, then what would privacy of information be?
President Obama just gave a Press Conference talking up the fact that money allocated for infrastructure recently across the country has been coming in under budget and ahead of schedule.
I was flipping around the tv to see everyone’s take and while CNN and MSNBC were showing the coverage live, Fox News was talking about the protests in Thailand this weekend. What’s more, this is on Fox’s “Happening Now” program.
LOL..wtf?
BANGKOK, Thailand – A Buddhist man in restive southern Thailand was beheaded by suspected Muslim insurgents who left a note by the body warning Buddhists to leave the area that has been gripped by bloody violence for three years, police said.
The man and his wife were working at a rubber plantation in Yala province when a group attacked them, shooting the man three times in the chest before beheading him and killing his wife, said police Lt. Kittiphong Phuduangjit.
Another Buddhist was killed in a drive-by shooting in a separate attack in Yala, said police Lt. Narasak Chiangsuk, who blamed the attack on insurgents.
Drive-by shootings and bombings occur almost daily in Thailand’s three southernmost Muslim-majority provinces of Yala, Narathiwat and Pattani, where an Islamic insurgency that flared in January 2004 has killed more than 1,900 people.

I saw today on the news that Brian Heidik, the winner of Survivor: Thailand was arrested for something. Does anyone have details on that? I think I spelled his name correctly. Thanks for any help forthcoming! Have a great day!

There are white elephants in Sri Lanka, Thailand & Indian province Meghalaya but the exact figure is not available. In Thailand people were stunned to discover few ones in jungles fleeing their areas of habitation when tsunami arrived there as it was a news for them. Can anybody help ? On internet only few images could be searched on ‘Google’.
