The best advise your going to get is to get a good lawyer and don’t depend on YA for such information. Link below to one law firm in Thailand (I do not endorse this firm but it can give you information), As for your wife being a bar girl or not should not be an issue any women can take a good man for a ride, she doesn’t have to be a bar girl.
Brief answer:
Company will be limited liability company with 49/51% Thai majority split. You will need a work permit to work. Capitalisation of the company would be normally THB 2.0mil, but being married you can get away with THB 1.0mil, Employees, normally 4 Thai employees, but as married get away with two Thai employees.
If you have never run a business anywhere else, be careful as Thailand is quiet difficult to set up and operate a business

One thing to be aware of in Thai business?
What ever business you open, do not be surprised if someone else opens the same business right across the street from you.
Also if you have no business plan, you need to talk to someone that can help you with this and give you a realistic idea of the success/failure rate of your business idea before you lose all your money.
Please do your research before investing
Whether she is a bar girl or not whether she is Thai or not. Working with your partner can always put a strain on a relationship. It may be better to grow the business and work both operation separately.
Sunbeltasia.com will help alot, the opening of a company is just as easy as in UK but the signing will all be in Thai so trust has to go along way.
You cannot own the majority of the company but you can set it up that you have the controlling interest. But if you trust your wife 100% then put it in her name.
But cautionary note if your only 26 / 28 then you have not been with your wife a long time and therefore should be cautious.
Not because she is Thai but alot of people can let you down look at the divorce rates in UK / US to prove it
I work in a Bank. Try and get a loan from any bank. If they lend you money, you’ll be ok. They study heap loads of information before they give you a single satang (or penny, or cent whichever). You still would be able to operate a fairly good business even if the bank doesn’t lend you any money, but when they do, it usually means you’ll be doing ok especially right now in this economic situation.
Otherwise, my advice is to start small, really small that you can afford to lose everything.
It will probably all be in your wife’s name. Make sure you have some legal guidance first separate from your wife!
Many businesses that Farangs start or involved in soon fail! If you business is connected to tourism and tourism takes a nose dive (like what happens during coups or political demonstrations or riots) how will you live?
Here are a couple links with dedicated sections for business in Thailand.http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/Jobs-econo…http://teakdoor.com/search.php?searchid=…
There are a lot of good and smart “bar girls” in Thailand too!
I suggest you both do a course in business management.
Education and knowledge is the key.
Just because you have money, it doesn’t mean you are more likely to be successful. There are many factors that come into operating a successful prosperous business.
